BIG plans for our Imagining Your Future program next year!

A year ago, we launched Harraseeket Foundation’s Imagining Your Future (IYF) program as a pilot for a small group of selected students at Herndon High School. IYF offers mentoring and a career-oriented curriculum that encourages and supports learning about work experiences.

We are excited to announce that Herndon High School has invited us to take IYF into both the classroom and its College Partnership Program, which supports students from populations that are historically underrepresented on college campuses. This will significantly expand the number of students in IYF!

We need lots of volunteers to help us make this a success! Tell us you're interested in learning more.

We’re Upgrading and Improving the Program!

We’re making several meaningful changes to IYF based on what we learned in the pilot. For example:

Students will:

    • Experience more hands-on, engaging activities, with exercises that promote interaction and active learning. The goal is to make it feel not like just another class!

    • Work primarily in small groups and 1-on-1 with volunteers, to foster tailored learning experiences and build deeper connections.

    • Be more actively encouraged to learn about and engage the workplace

    • Have access to a completely revamped curriculum that allows students to track their progress throughout the year, giving volunteers and students a guided path to follow.

Volunteers will:

    • Experience more consistent engagement with students as we shift away from the ”self-selection” model used in the pilot program.

    • Benefit from working regularly in small groups and 1-on-1, in order to meet students where they are, and to make a deeper impact.

    • Gain a fresh perspective from teens and contribute to the future of our community.

    • Have the flexibility to choose the dates to volunteer. Meetings with students typically will be once or twice a month, on weekday mornings for up to 90 minutes. Volunteers can work in the classroom in small groups, help lead a curriculum session, and/or be trained for 1-on-1 mentoring.

Please tell us you want to learn more about getting involved!

We are particularly looking for volunteers who are part of a faith community, a club, an employer, a nonprofit, or an informal community group. Tell us you’re interested in learning more, and we’ll be in touch!

Expanding our footprint and upgrading our program also requires financial resources. Please consider supporting young people as we seek to change many more lives!
