Our Imagining Your Future (IYF) Trek in 3 Parts: Who, What, and How |
High school students in the College Partnership Program (CPP)** and two different homeroom classes are participating in our Imagining Your Future (IYF) program with monthly workshops that take students through a collaborative trek of exploration, learning and discovery. In the IYF workshops, small groups work with adult volunteers (we call them “guides”) on exercises tailored to each stage of the trek.
The trek is divided over the course of the year into three phases. Students in the initial workshops explore WHO they are, followed by workshops focused on WHAT they imagine, and then, in the third part, HOW they can achieve what they imagine. |
Pictured above are some of the 11 guides and 28 students at one of the “Who are you” workshops. Here, the students are interviewing each other in an icebreaker game (“Who do you know who…?”) before they work in small groups with guides on an exercise that identifies their strengths, interests and passions, to then complete a “mind map” activity.
If you or your community organization (faith community, school, employer, nonprofit) are interested in supporting students as they imagine their future, we invite you to get involved and support our work! |
**The goal of the CPP is to systematically mitigate the impact of barriers to access and opportunity, and support students who are from populations that are historically underrepresented on college campuses. The mission of CPP is to provide students with equitable access to postsecondary opportunities and activities necessary for college and career readiness. |
